Edward entered eternal rest Saturday afternoon, February 17, 2024 at the Alliance at Rosewood Nursing Home in Peabody.  Born in Chelsea, he is the son of the late Angelo and Rose (Nigro) Colella.  Edward was a longtime Chelsea resident before taking his residence at the Nursing Home in Peabody. Ed resided at Rosewood for the last several years and he enjoyed his time there.  He loved all the staff and appreciated their dedication to providing loving care to all of the residents and patients.  Edward was a retired piece worker and binder at the Green Shoe Company in Roxbury and also, Emerson Textile Company in Chelsea.  Edward's favorite pastime was football.  He loved going to the Kowloon restaurant with family and friends to enjoy a nice meal together.  He will be forever cherished by all who loved him.

Edward was the husband of Edith R. (Allen) Colella, with whom he shared 47 years of marriage before her passing in 2019.  Beloved father of Sherry A. Chipman and her husband Bruce of Everett and the late Anthony Wayne Griffin, Joseph James Griffin and Mildred Madaline Griffin.  Dear father-in-law of Gwen Griffin.  Cherished grandfather of 2 grandchildren, Ann-Cheri Woods and her fiancé Matt Fleming, Mike Morsett and his wife Dawn; 4 great grandchildren, Holli Woods and her fiancé Charlie Khlung, Crystal Morsett, Zachary Woods and his fiancé Lexy Clarkson, Brian Morsett; and 1 great-great grandson, Jackson LaFontane.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., CHELSEA on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10:30 A.M. - 12:00 noon   Funeral services will follow the visitation at 12:00 Noon.   All services will conclude at the Funeral Home.  Interment is private.
