Obituary

Elaine passed away quietly in her sleep on the morning of January 3, 2017 after a prolonged battle with Parkinson's Disease. She was 76 years of age. Elaine is remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and passion for helping others. Over the course of more than 30 years as a psychoanalyst, Elaine helped hundreds of people live happier lives and create their own paths to personal success. Her steadfast belief that people were innately good and had the capacity for greatness, in whatever form greatness took, was the basis for her life and her life's work. She never took life for granted, she viewed it as a gift that should be cherished even when it was harder than we could ever imagine. She believed that facing the hardest challenges that life presented was the key to happiness, because when you overcome what is most difficult and most daunting you create an inner strength that never leaves your soul. Even as that horrible disease began to take its toll on her body and mind she remained happy, never complaining about her own problems and always looking for ways to help others deal with theirs. That selflessness is a gift that few have and those of us who were lucky enough to have Elaine in our lives will always cherish her words, advice and love.

Elaine is survived by her son, her two grandchildren and her sister and brother.

Visitation with the family will be conducted in the Carafa Family Funeral Home 389 Washington Ave. Chelsea on Friday, January 20 from 12 - 1:15 P.M. A reflection of life service will begin at 1:15 P.M. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett.
