Ellen entered into eternal rest Thursday morning, December 12, 2024 at the Brudnick Center for the Living in Peabody.  She was 97 years of age.  Born in Somerville, Ellen was the daughter of the late Asdrubal and Helen (Ferris) Meyrelles.  She grew up in Medford and attended Medford public schools.  She graduated from Medford High School in 1945.  A long time resident of Chelsea, she was a retired medical transcriber, having worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for many years.  Ellen was a great writer, and she enjoyed writing poetry.  She volunteered helping special needs children and she was a volunteer tutor helping people learning the English language.  She will be fondly missed by all who loved and cherished her.

Ellen is the former wife of the late Charles Poulos.  Devoted mother of Faith Hazelton and her husband Joseph of Lynn and the late Frederick Poulos.  Mother-in-law of Marianna Poulos of CA.  Ellen was predeceased by her siblings, Kenneth Meyrelles, Thelma Meisse and her husband Edward, Lorraine Countie and her husband Joseph.  Beloved grandmother of Rebecca Hazelton and her husband Dereck Blackburn of Bedford, Rachel Davis and her husband Ryan of Danvers, and Giovanna Poulos of CA.  Also lovingly survived by 3 great grandchildren, Alexandra, Ava, and Aiden and many nieces, nephews and their children.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:  Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours in the Carafa Family Funeral Home, 389 Washington Ave., CHELSEA on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 10:00 - 12:00 P.M.  Funeral services will follow the visitation in the Funeral Home at 12:00 Noon.   Services will conclude with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
