Obituary

Helena Yannetti (nee Iacoviello) passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, in Chelsea, MA at age 104.  Born in East Boston, during a blizzard, she was one of seven, and her family moved to Chelsea in 1927.  She married her husband George during the war, on November 7, 1942.  They raised their family in Chelsea and were together for 40 years until she lost George to a sudden death in 1978.

Helena's values of generosity and family first guided her through her life.  Her love of good food meant that there were always delicious, homemade dishes for every occasion.  She was a beloved Auntie Lena to all her many nieces and nephews, and the door was always open to visitors and coffee was always on.

She was an active person and loved going out with her friends or family.  She enjoyed bowling, playing and winning at Mah Jongg, going to the theater or shopping and she especially loved spending time with her family.

Helena was preceded in death by her husband, George, and all of her siblings, Louie, Frank, Angie, Felix, John and Millie.  She was the last of her generation.  Helena is survived by her daughters, Terri Yannetti and her partner Laura Militzer, Lisa Mitchell and her husband Robert, sons George Yannetti, Jr. and his wife Ruth, Paul Yannetti; grandchildren Kendal Mitchell, Jeffrey Mitchell, Michelle Yannetti and her husband Evan Freeman and great grandchildren Sofia and Isabella Freeman.
