Ruki passed away Saturday evening, August 8, 2015 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 81 years of age. Born in Sri Lanka, she is the daughter of the late Eric M. and Elsa G. (Dodanwela) Ameresekere. Ruki came to the United States in 1966 and settled in Brighton. She later moved to Chelsea and has been residing in the City for the last 27 years. During her working career, Ruki was the Records Coordinator in the Development Office at Boston University. She dedicated 38 years of service, retiring in 2006. Ruki was an active member and parishioner of St. Luke's - San Lucas Episcopal Church in Chelsea. She was a member of the Women's Guild of St. Luke's and was the late Treasurer and volunteer of the Chelsea Community Kitchen. Former member of the Allston-Brighton Congregational Church in Brighton.

Ruki is the sister of the late Aleric S. Ameresekere. Dear aunt of Marion Ameresekere of London, England, Melanie Bibile of Sri Lanka, and Angela Renganathan of Abu Dhabi.
