Obituary

Lorraine Brown was born in Chelsea in January 1933 in the house that she has lived in for the last 90 years.  She went to Chelsea High School and excelled in her studies.  She was a cheerleader for the Chelsea Red Devils.  After high school she enrolled in the School of Nursing at the Whidden Hospital and became a Registered Nurse.  During that time, she met her husband Weldon and together they raised four children at the same family home.

When her children were grown, she went back to school and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and went on to earn a Master of Science Degree in Nursing.  She left the Whidden Hospital to teach at the Chelsea Soldier's Home School of Practical Nursing.  She eventually became the Director of the school.  Lorraine retired in 1997.  She and her husband enjoyed being with their family.   When their family was grown, Lorraine and Weldon embarked on many trips to Europe, traveling on Pilgrimages to many known sites and added the Holy Land to their destinations.  Lorraine and Weldon were active at Our Lady of Grace Church, volunteering on many committees including parish nursing.

Lorraine passed away on November 4th after a short illness.  She is predeceased by the late Weldon Brown, a retired police officer in Chelsea, whom she shared 60 years of marriage before his passing in 2014.  She leaves her four children, Kevin Brown and his wife Diane, Gerard (Gary) Brown and his wife Alice, Michele Tosi and her husband Walter and her daughter Laurie Brown.  Lorraine is the dear sister of Patricia Smith, June Carroll, Joseph Carroll and his wife Marianne and the late John Carroll and his wife Marna, George Carroll and his wife Janet. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Tristan Brown and his wife Sophie, Emily Brown and Gina Tosi, whom she loved very much and was so proud of their achievements in their careers.

She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
