Ramzi passed away suddenly Friday morning, April 3, 2026, at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.  He was 67 years of age.  Born in Beirut, Lebanon, he was the son of the late Mohammed and Mouyasser Abounaja.  Ramzi came to the United States in the late 1970's, later obtaining his citizenship.  He graduated from Northeastern University, receiving a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.  He worked as an engineer for the Commonwealth of MA for over 30 years.  Ramzi was a late resident of Chelsea and Revere, but he has been residing in Malden for the last 16 years. As an animal lover, Ramzi loved dogs of all kinds.  He will be forever cherished by all who loved him.

He was the beloved husband of Shirley E. (Hightower) Abounaja of Revere.  Devoted father of Jeremy Abounaja of Revere.  Dear brother of Riad Abounaja, Rassem Abounaja, Nahla Abounaja of Tewksbury, Raida Abounaja of Tewksbury, Rajaie Abounaja, Rabih Abounaja of NH, Rana Dib of Wilmington and the late Raef Abounaja.  Also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS:  Relatives and friends are invited to Ramzi's burial at the Pine Hill Cemetery, 131 Central Ave. Dover, NH on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 11:00 A.M.
